Four programs,
one case model

The firm runs four distinct streams — LMIA, intra-company transfer, employer-specific work permits, and provincial nominee / PR. Each stream had grown its own folder structure, its own naming conventions, and its own way of tracking employer compliance commitments.

When a single client moved from a work permit to a PR stream, the matter effectively re-started in a different shadow system. The risk was not legal — it was institutional memory.

The firm modeled a single Matter object with program-specific profile records (LMIA-specific employer obligations, ICT inter-company relationship evidence, PR-specific points-test snapshots). Documents attach to the Matter once and are reused across stream transitions.

Compliance commitments — wage thresholds, recruitment evidence, business-activity reporting — are tracked on the Matter and surface as deadline cards in the responsible attorney’s queue. Nothing falls between programs because the matter never re-starts.

A client moving from work permit to PR no longer triggers a re-build of the file. Per-matter audit trails make ESDC and IRCC compliance reviews straightforward.

The firm reports the saved time goes to the work clients actually pay for: strategy and case framing, not file reconstruction.
